VOLUNTEERING- Is Always Appreciated- Thank You! The PTA Board needs you! The position of Vice President – Programs is currently open. This officer is responsible for the programs presented by the PTA. Duties include coordinating delivery of programs throughout the year and booking of upcoming year’s programs in the summer. Volunteer Interest Form & Partners In Education "New" - Many parents have expressed interest in having ODC start an after school enrichment program. It would be structured similarly to the programs that many of you had access to at your home schools. Many types of topics have been suggested including Rocketry, Beading/Clay, Dance, Art, Archeology, Cake Decorating, Chess 101, Chemistry 101, Yoga, Foreign Languages, Guitar/Violin, Gardening, and Architecture. Our initial thought would be to run the program, on a trial basis, for the month of January. The thought would be to start off with just a few classes being offered and then, based on student interest and parental involvement, potentially enlarge the range of offerings or duration of the program.
The PTA fully supports this concept, however
to get it up and running, we need of a team of parents who are willing
to develop and coordinate the program. The duties of the
After-school Enrichment Program Coordinators could include but may not
be limited to: - assist in identifying desired "classes" and
determining how many classes could be offered per week, - assist
in finding instructors for these classes (parents, ODC
teachers, outside organizations (i.e. Mad Science) - assist in determining enrollment amounts
per class and cost (if any), - create enrollment forms and
register students for classes, - assign parent volunteers to assist
instructors, - assist in determining student pick-up process - assign parent volunteers to supervise
student pick-up process.
The PTA has already identified instructors
for several of the topics listed above. But to get the program
started, we really need your help. If your student would be interested
in participating in this type of enrichment program, please consider
volunteering your time to get it off the ground. Grab a friend and be
part of starting something great for our kids! Please let me know if you are interested! Zoe
